وصف الكتاب
The end of the 1990s was marked by the decline of mining activity at Gobon with the cessation of uranium mining (Mounana) and the inflection of oil production by Shell Gabon. The beginning of the decline led to the crisis in the cities of Gamba (south-west) and Mounana (south-east), two cities born in the extractive industry. The extent of these urban crises is symptomatic of the extent of the mining system with the decline in national oil production and the cessation of uranium mining, two of Gabon's three export-oriented mineral products alongside manganese. These crises are also revealing of the crisis of the model of the economy of rent of which Gabon is a perfect example. Also the book shows the articulation of two syndromes, that of gillette affecting the mining towns and the Dutch disease of which Gabon is the victim. This articulation of the two syndromes also refers to the economic specialization models of the urban exporting base (H.Hoyt) and the rentier state.
