Since the 1960s, yachting has experienced unprecedented growth and Brittany is directly concerned. Its fleet of more than 80,000 boats and hundreds of ports and anchorages in 2010 attest to this. But beyond these figures, recreational boating has its own territorial logic stemming from the localization of ports and anchorages, specific boating practices and a land hinterland welcoming companies in the nautical sector and places of residence of boaters. This study individualizes several spaces of practice, associating a terrestrial part and a maritime slope. If local authorities recognize the legitimacy of such territorial entities, it is clear that a deep gap continues with the administrative division in force.
