green and fresh in the past
construction and dust
I really liked Safa Park - very large, with spacious green lawns where visitors were staying with their families, children and adults played football and cricket, with a large pond with ducks, with a waterfall next to which everyone took pictures. Now, due to the construction of the highway, most of the park was demolished, and getting to it became absolutely inconvenient (at least from the metro). I hope that someday the construction will still be over and the park will be returned to its old borders.

Description:

One of Dubai’s most popular parks, Safa Park is a leafy sanctuary in the middle of the city.

Although bordered by the busy Sheikh Zayed Road, the park delivers a complete escape from the hustle and bustle of Dubai. It’s a quiet spot where people come to read books in secret gardens, and runners jog around the track.

Ball games, barbecues and picnics at Safa Park

While locals frequently make use of the sports facilities including tennis and basketball courts, the park is bustling with new visitors too. You’ll find a huge range of nationalities heading to this green spot to take in the beautiful views of Downtown Dubai and the Dubai Water Canal.

Rent a bike for a few dirhams and explore the park, or enjoy a tranquil afternoon in the green. Families frequent Safa Park for picnics, using the permanent barbecues set up around the edge of the park.

With all the facilities for a family day out, Safa Park is a destination worth heading to for the day. It’s alive from morning to night, especially on the weekends. Most of the attractions are accessible to all, and the park is designed to cater for those with special needs, referred to as 'people of determination' in the UAE.
