Review about Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood from Lavrenets Kateryna
They thought just to see the old district, but ended up in a very colorful and creative place. In every nook and cranny you will find either a themed cafe, souvenir shops, or a museum or even a creative studio of artists. After visiting this area, we sat on the Abra and crossed over 2 dirhams to the other side of the river, where there is a large bazaar where you can also buy souvenirs (bargained for cashmere and camel scarf 130 dirhams for two) A walk around this atmospheric place is very inspiring and gives great emotions. I advise you to visit!

See what traditional life in Old Dubai was like during the mid-19th century at Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood. Located along the Dubai Creek, this district is a key heritage site that has preserved much of the original infrastructure. Social life, cultural development and trade were prominent throughout this period, and you can still experience what life was like within these same streets.
The old wind towers constructed from stone, teak, gypsum, palm wood and sandalwood represent only a small part of Al Fahidiâs history. Each alley, twisting pathway and breezy tower tells a story of a life before the Emirates.
Follow the winding streets in Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood to discover a plethora of cultural activities, museums, art galleries, special events and traditional food.
There are over 50 'houses' to explore. Start at the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, where you can join a guided tour of all the different aspects of this district and gain an insight into local customs. Afterwards, stop by the fascinating Coins Museum which displays over 470 rare coins and shines a spotlight on the monetary system of the British Empire, India and countries in the region before independence.
Other highlights include the Symposium House and Events House, which often stages cultural events and heritage-related activities, such as demonstrations by local craftsmen. Make sure you donât miss the Calligraphy House (Dar Al Khatt) that specialises in Arabic calligraphy and everything related to the creative art form, as well as the Municipality House that stands as a remarkable example of traditional Dubai architecture.
The neighbourhood also hosts a series of exciting events all through the year, including the popular Sikka Art Fair.
Take the time escape the skyscrapers and get a glimpse of how Emiratis from past generations lived their lives in this treasured historical neighbourhood.
