Iconic Landmark

The scenery is pleasing. lots of fun things to do and there are provisions for the kids
a little pricey. proper management and repairs should be done.
An iconic landmark located in the Sharjah Emirate of UAE, known for its rich history of tradition, impressive forts and stately museums, alongside trendy malls, beaches and cricket stadium. I have been to this place on two different occasions and unfortunately the ferris wheel was not operational both times. According to the staff, it was due to maintenance activities. The location and the view late evening was stunning. It would have been a better experience if we had a ride though.  Entry fee is 30 aed per person which is quite expensive and all attractions also come with a fee. Perhaps this is the reason for lack of customers.

Description:

Ferris wheel in Sharjah

At a distance of 2 km from Blue Souk, 19 km from Sharjah International Airport and 17 km from Dubai International Airport, the Eye of the Emirates Wheel is a giant Ferris Wheel located at Al Montazah Parks on Flag Island, Sharjah. It is one of the most popular places to visit in Sharjah.

Inaugurated in 2005, the Eye of the Emirates Wheel is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Sharjah and since then it spanned its wheel for hundreds of thousands of people. It is 60 meters high and has 42 cabins. Initially, it was in the Al Qasba community and is relocated in 2018 to its present location at Al Montazah Parks, the emirate's premier amusement and water park. The Ferris Wheel provides spectacular bird's eye views across the landscape to a larger number of residents and visitors, including the city's major attractions and famous markets, such as the Central Souq, Al Jubail Souq, Al Majaz Waterfront, Khalid Lagoon, Al Noor Island, Al Noor Mosque, among others. The night view is even more spectacular.

The Eye of the Emirates is also recognized for being a beacon of many celebrations Sharjah undergoes and for witnessing numerous events from cultural and art-related, to entertainment and family-oriented activities, and National occasions and celebrations. It also bore the famous symbol of the UAE's late founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to celebrate the Year of Zayed.

Apart from the Eye of the Emirates Wheel, Flag Island is home to the 7th tallest flagpole in the world. There is also a theme park with roller coasters and other rides plus a water park with plenty of water slides to beat the heat and have some fun. The island has a nice garden and a small amphitheater for cultural performances. There is also a cafe with a children's play area and an art space.
