Book Description
While experimental animation has been doable in the past, the advent and prevalence of technology has expanded the possibilities of working with these non-traditional materials. This is due to real-time feedback, digital capture, live-view shooting, and post-production magic. But where does one begin in even conceiving of these projects much less begin to produce them? Fluid Frames walks readers through studio set-up, choosing and working with materials, and transitioning from physical production to digital workflow to enhance their animations. This book shows how to work properly with several different materials, providing step-by-step guides that take the readers from constructing their studio set-up to dealing with digital post-production. It provides tutorials on how to work with the latest version of After Effects and how to best apply those techniques to difficult materials like sand and clay. Finally, this book features case studies and interviews covering the latest successful experimental animations and animators. The companion website for this book will feature video tutorials covering under-the-camera techniques and After Effects enhancements.
