The general objective of this research is to survey and map the physical environment and to evaluate deforestation in the municipality of Cacoal, State of Rondonia, using geoprocessing techniques. This objective was reached through the elaboration of thematic maps of the area of ​​study, among them, the maps of anthropic use and vegetation cover of the years of 1986, 1999, 2005 and 2007. For the realization of this research was relevant the use of materials and techniques modern and efficient computational models available, such as the Cialis and Presidente Medice charts developed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, in the scale of 1: 250,000, geomorphological and pedological maps elaborated by the RadamBrasil Project, Ministry of Mines and Energy,
