Book Description
Transportation is a major contributor to air pollutant emissions. To cite only the case of greenhouse gases, emissions from the transport sector account for more than 30% of total emissions in developed countries. Globally, transportation emits five billion tonnes of GHGs annually! This sector shows sustained growth of more than 15% of its emissions year after year. The proposed solutions can sometimes appear weak in the scale of the problem, but it is in their aggregation that the hope rests. The author presents in this document a study on the use of a biofuel in a hybrid vehicle to reduce polluting emissions. Numerous results of simulations on the combustion of biofuels and the calibration of vehicle hybridization strategies are presented. The road to sustainable transportation will be long. The technology will only provide part of the solution and each user will also have an active role to play.
