About the Author
Amy Hurd is a professor of recreation and park administration at Illinois State University. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in management with an emphasis on marketing, human resources and finance. As a practitioner, Hurd worked as a sspecial events coordinator and as the marketing director for the park district in Champaign, Illinois. Robert Barcelona serves as an associate professor at the University of New Hampshire. Barcelona s research interests focus on the intersection of sport and physical activity, youth development and community recreation management. He also works closely with community recreation and sport organizations on issues pertaining to master planning, strategic planning, and program evaluation. Jo An Zimmermann is an associate professor at Texas State University. Zimmermann teaches courses related to administration, finance and marketing. As a practitioner, Zimmermann worked as recreation manager for the park district of Oak Park in Illinois. She has presented and written on management and administrative roles in parks and recreation, including authoring chapters in textbooks.
