The aim of the work was to approximately determine the distribution of discontinuous permafrost in the Basodino-Cristallina region through mapping and geomorphological analysis of the periglacial domain of this region. The results obtained by this preliminary work have the ambition to be representative of an alpine periglacial area with hot and humid climate and useful for a possible measurement campaign using technological tools for prospecting for permafrost in Ticino. The ultimate goal of these studies will be the prevention or at least the limitation of the natural risks caused by the degradation of the permafrost.
