Book Description
The issue of opening up is at the heart of the strategy of the National Program for Urban Renovation, it directly questions the potential of public transport as a creator of links in the city and in society. The study analyzes the impact that public transit projects can have on social and urban cohesion. Based on an Urban Renovation project in Lormont, municipality of the Bordeaux agglomeration, the study shows the dynamic effects of the arrival of a public transport in own site in the district. By offering better mobility between the city's resource centers, public transport can play a role in social cohesion. The study also raises the limits of such an approach. It states that a transport project alone can only partially meet the travel needs of the inhabitants of these neighborhoods. The question of mobility is thus to be understood in its broadest sense.
