Book Description
In defining the fishing technique as the use of a fishing gear as well as the conditions and forms of work organization associated with it, four categories of techniques have been distinguished: 1) those with the line characterized by good qualification of the fisherman, the weakness of the manpower and the financial means; 2) gillnets characterized by the size of the workforce and the financial means required; 3) seine (rotating and beach) more demanding in human and financial resources; 4) Individuals characterized by low human and financial resources. As a result, it has been found that the more the technique requires human and financial resources, the more their practitioners come from large groups. small groups generally opt for techniques that require less human and financial resources. Beyond the structuring of the domestic groups, the community belonging, the socio-professional trajectory of the group leader, the local institutions and the local rules in force are the other factors of technical differentiation.
