Book Description
Cameroon has a strong human influence through urbanization, agriculture and cattle breeding; activities whose impact on the environment and development of the country is the subject of a scientific debate not yet decided. This book explains the dynamics of Cameroon's territories based on their evolutionary processes and their recent socio-economic history. The book is based on remote sensing, surveys and field surveys organized in Geographic Information Systems. An empathic, pragmatic and somewhat multicultural approach would allow to see and follow the path of realistic, effective and sustainable solutions, starting from the vision and motivations of the people from "down below" those who rely on the success of any development project? Whatever the approach, nothing sustainable can be done without relativising the problems: it appears urgent that the North and the South manage to absorb the fact that the way so far followed by the North, and especially since the fifties, is not sustainable for Cameroon in particular and for Africa in general.
