About the Author
James Newport-Chiakulas is a lifelong Chicagoan who represented Chicago's bridge workers for more than a decade. A Chicago teacher and union activist, he later became a regional director with the Illinois Education Association. Newport-Chiakulas is a graduate of John Marshall Law School and is now an employment law attorney.
