Book Description
Wine spaces in Aquitaine are changing. They have to face the reforms of the big institutions, and in particular that of the INAO. The territorial division has become the stake of these spaces. In addition, to respond to an increasingly global demand, producers, traders and other players in the world of wine are establishing governance. The latter requires the establishment of a new decision-making level: the production basins. This mode of territorial management that modifies the relations between the actors is a real tool of spatial reworking. Governance, in fact, has impacts on all areas where wine is present, both vineyards and reticular spaces of marketing. This governance is then conceived as a politico-social geosystem that guarantees the horizontal functioning of power relations. Wine spaces can be read through a political geography where wine professionals become the center pieces of the territorial chessboard. It is therefore a question of elaborating a social geography of a world of wine in full metamorphosis.
