Book Description
As part of the pilot activity, the cognitive constraints related to brain function are still poorly considered. Yet when they are understood, human error becomes a symptom of system deficiencies. An original and innovative approach to dealing with human error in aeronautics is to use the tools and concepts of integrative neuroscience and neuropsychology. The work of these disciplines has recently given rise to the interest of human factors and has recently given birth to a new trend in the United States: neuroergonomics. It is in this process that we have tried to better understand the influence of stress, financial pressure or aging on decision-making and piloting performance. This manuscript shows how tools such as neuropsychological test batteries, oculometry and magnetic resonance imaging help to better understand the errors of some pilots who, when confronted with high pressure situations, sometimes show close to that of brain-injured patients (attentional disorder, mental rigidity, etc.).
