Book Description
Individual female international migration from Senegal originated in the city in the mid-1980s and first affected Wolof women before spreading to rural areas. Today, it has almost become a fact of society since it tends to spread to all ethnic and religious components of the country. This feminization observed in the Senegalese international migratory field may be the consequence of various problems posed by the degradation of morals (erosion of traditional values, loss of parental or marital authority) but also by the unprecedented economic crisis in the country. . It can also be explained by sociocultural (changing mentalities) and educational changes (increasing the level of education of women) that Senegal has experienced since independence as well as by the feminisation of jobs on a global scale. The structure of the migratory tissue as a whole, in Senegal and France, is exposed. This work opens up a new field of investigation around international migration.
