This book attempts to understand the meaning of violence through the lived experience and history of men with a propensity for violence. The author seeks to demonstrate the relevance of taking into consideration male socialization and, consequently, the construction of identity in the understanding of violence perpetrated by men. The study carried out tackles this issue by relying on empirical research, drawn from life stories of men presenting a problematic of violence. Through the stories appears a vision of change and avenues for reflection regarding social support for men with a problematic of violence. Men are the main producers of violence. Paradoxically, they are also the main victims of this social cancer. This book offers a lucid portrait of the social reality of men who have suffered violence and who have adopted this relationship mode. Shame, violent socialization and the question of identity are examined through the testimony of men presenting a problem of violence.
