The countryside has experienced two major phenomena in the last forty years: agriculture shapes the landscape but less and less uniformly revealing a fragmentation of agrarian occupation; socio-demographic recompositions operate in the overhaul of the meaning of rurality. This work presents rurality in its recompositions according to a socio-spatial and cultural approach. The landscape is mobilized twice: a conceptual object, it makes it possible to analyze the changes and the factors of the renewal of the campaigns; a subject of interest for the populations, it gives an account of the multiple territorialities which the practices and representations retrace. The socio-spatial factors in the structuring of rural territories contribute to the patrimonialisation of everyday landscapes by the environmental campaign craze, but the relationship of societies to time and identity marks the meaning of the territories of a specific footprint. The contemporary changes of the countryside do not mark the end of the rural, but its renewal.
