Book Description
Two economic changes have recently characterized the global economic system. On the one hand, approaches to the knowledge-based economy and creativity place knowledge and creativity at the center of the current economy. On the other hand, cities seem to be the key places of global economic issues at the heart of the flow of people, knowledge and wealth. In this context, the theory of the creative class is at the center of current economic debates. Its author, the American economist Richard Florida, proposes this new social class as a factor of regional economic growth and suggests that tolerance would influence its attraction in certain regions. Among his novelties, individuals working in artistic and cultural activities represent an essential category of this class: bohemians. Through a qualitative approach, the survey aims to study the artistic activities of bohemians in two medium-sized Swiss cities in order to identify the processes and causalities that characterize them. The results will be discussed and related to Florida's postulates.
