This research aims to assess the impact of public policies for the conservation and management of protected areas in the face of the logic of local populations. This being the case, we try to estimate the real weight of national conservation policies in protected areas of Far North Cameroon. This research proposes to answer the following question: does the analysis of the dynamics of land use in protected areas make it possible to judge the effectiveness of the conservation policy put in place? To characterize and evaluate the dynamics of land use, the chosen method favors a double entry taking into account both spatialization and regulation. In this way, the exploitation of both historical and legal data, cartographic data and satellite images acquired on successive dates are complemented by field surveys and socio-economic surveys. All the information collected constitutes the database needed for the creation of a Geographic Information System (GIS), an indispensable tool for the sustainable management of resources in protected areas.
