Book Description
The hydrocarbon networks in Argentina experienced a brutal restructuring during the state reform of the 1990s. The deregulation of activities and the privatization of the YPF and Gas del Estado companies led to the re-concentration of the sector, now under the empire of foreign companies. These changes have resulted in increased hydrocarbon production, achieving self-sufficiency and exporting. But the insufficient expansion of internal networks seems to compromise the coverage of new demands. On the other hand, oil and gas pipelines have been built to reach external markets. Argentine networks are integrated with those of neighboring countries. This integration offers Southern Cone countries an opportunity to showcase their potential. In the interior of the country, the hydrocarbon territories face the consequences of restructuring (unemployment, loss of territorial identity, etc.). With difficulty and very different possibilities, these territories, such Comodoro Rivadavia, Ensenada and Bahía Blanca, seek to reinvent themselves.
