Book Description
The present study aims to analyze the rainfall variability and its impact on the physical and socio-economic environment during the last four decades in southern Chad. The droughts that have struck the neighboring Sahelian area in recent years have almost diverted the attention of researchers, leaving behind this Sudanese domain, yet qualified as "useful Chad". The analysis of the rainfall situation of the last four decades shows a strong variation both spatially and temporally. At the time scale in particular, the variation is marked by a succession of two dry decades (70 and 80) between two wet (60 and 90); large differences between the dates of establishment and end of rains resulting in a reduction of the wet period.
