Book Description
This work attempts to identify, through the results of a thorough investigation, the main characteristics of the dynamics of the society, the space and the activity of the pastors and agro-pastoralists of the Algerian steppe. It is a work devoted to the study of three dynamics intimately linked to the point where it is difficult to dissociate them. In the face of globalization and the important role played by the global in relation to the local, pastoral society is divided between the conservation of customary rules and the adoption of modern rules of life offering a decent and comfortable way of life. Spatial dynamics is characterized by a degradation of pastoral resources as a result of a large gap between needs and availability. As for the dynamics of the activity, the systems present mention pastoralism, neither traditional nor modern; in other words, neither extensive nor less intensive. The current context does not give a clear idea of the future evolution of these systems. Nevertheless, what is certain is the fact that pastoralism as defined by the different specialists is disappearing.
