Book Description
Most of the farmers were educated with the age of 30-50 years living in the semi kutcha houses. Knowledge extent of pulse production technology for field preparation, improved varieties, seed rate and treatment, time of sowing, manure and fertilizer application, inorganic fertilizer and its combination, weeding, insect/pest, and disease control is higher than adoption extent in all three districts. It is observed that respondents in Banda district have higher knowledge and adoption than Hamirpur and Jalaun district. It is disheartening, that a few of them known about the insect pest and serious diseases., but, it is happy to know that all the farmers knew about the wilt disease, which is very serious disease of the pulse crops.Adoption of most of the pulse production technology and socio-economic status are significantly correlated, but it is varies from crop to crop and package and practice for different area of production i.e., district to district. Education, mass media, and landholding are highly correlated with adoption of field preparation, seed rate, time of sowing, manuring and some extent weeding. In all the districts serious problems are lack of risk orientation.
