Book Description
In summary, there are two assessments of extremism: on the one hand, the more normative attitude that accepts the concept of extremism as a term for conceptual similarities between extremisms of left and right. Most German extremism researchers, the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution are committed to this view. On the other hand, the rather left-wing position emphasizes the historically grounded explosiveness of right-wing extremism and denies the equality of right and left manifestations. Although there is a great deal of hesitancy in the use of the term "extremism" in much of political science, partly because it is often used, it should be considered a generic term for different political ideas and movements, have the essential structures of thought and structure and want to eliminate the democratic constitutional state by violent means or by legal means. In view of the differences that arise nationally, but even more so in an international comparison, it makes sense to do justice to the existence of individual flows by differentiating between them. In order to do this differentiation Genuge, the terms "extremism" or "extremist aspirations" should be used.
