Book Description
Chad is one of the poorest countries in the world. Its economy is based on agriculture Chad has been operating since July 2003, a petroleum field located in the region of Logone Oriental, in full agricultural savanna. The living conditions of the local population are precarious. The oil project comes as a lifeline and a source of great hope. The impact of the project after two years of operation, following intense construction work, results in an environmental and social upheaval. The economic impact is still mixed. The big challenge remains that of income management to fight against poverty. Despite the advent of the petroleum project, traditional activities (agriculture and livestock) must continue to be practiced but they must be modernized thanks to oil resources. Petroleum revenues will be used for economic take-off. Only 33% of the land is exploited. There is still the possibility of extending the cultivable areas. An observatory for the sustainable development of the region is to be put in place for the monitoring of the achievements.
