The exceptional urban architectural heritage of Italian cities is practically everywhere subject to a major seismic risk: high probability of occurrence of an earthquake, significant vulnerability of territories. However, heritage conservation policies can be effective risk management tools. For this, it is essential that the various actors define management priorities, taking into account different spatial and temporal scales, within the framework of selective urban policies. The comparison of the three communes of Noto (Sicily), Assisi (Umbria), and Gemona (Friuli) highlights the similarities and contrasts between the choices and the results of different urban policies carried out in comparable contexts.
