The objective of the work is to study the Simulation of Large Scales in an aeronautical industrial context. The digital dissipation inherent in rugged industrial codes requires sub-mesh models that can adjust to calculate adequate turbulent viscosity. The Variational MultiScale Approach of Hughes et al. is developed in compressible regime under a filtered formulation, then implanted in entropic variables in the finite element solver AETHER of DASSAULT-AVIATION. Free decay studies of isotropic turbulence have shown excellent model properties. This technique is then applied to compressible flows over an open cavity. Two passive control devices are studied: a spoiler and a cylindrical bar.
