Book Description
There are many reasons that impose a control of maritime traffic, so that it is able to track the different vessels that approach or move away from the coasts. Technically this does not suppose any problem, in fact there exist powerful systems used for the control of maritime traffic: stationary radars, AIS (Automatic Identification System), satellite systems, etc. Since the appearance of the AIS, it has been revealed as an effective means to perform an efficient control. Only attribute the limitation of the visual range (more / less 30 miles) characteristic of VHF. The novelty of the Automatic Vessel Identification System that we propose to use is that it is not a satellite system, it works on medium wave (MF) and is not limited by a distance of coverage, as with the AIS. Nor is it an exclusive system of the latter, since in some exceptional circumstances it relies on the. It combines the use of a special cartography with the digital selective one that incorporates GMDSS and, with the potecial that offers a maritime route with a minimum density of traffic. "
