Book Description
In typological research, proximate and avertive still have two central problems: In addition to the problem of their systematic separation, there is no consensus on their grammatical paths. Following a critical presentation of the state of research on the languages of the world, the present work makes a new systematic differentiation of proximate and avertive, both formally semantically and on the basis of relevant tests, and in the course of its redefinition also shows the demarcation from prospective, imperfectum de conatu and frustrated immunity. To investigate the still unclear direction of grammaticalization of the categories, a model for the path Proximative> Avertive is modified, which is verified in the diachronic examination based on the corpus. The independence of the grammem is demonstrated by means of independent grammaticalization paths. Various new grammatical paths of Proximativ and Avertiv are shown from the classical Latin up to ten Romance contemporary languages on the basis of numerous corpora and furthermore also new discoveries in parallel developments, in particular of the future and conditionals, are presented
