The monograph is devoted to the development of the constitutionalist movement in Russia in the 1840s – 1860s. The reasons for its failure are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the unexplored aspects of the activities of representatives of the liberal-constitutionalist emigration of the “era of great reforms.” Various aspects of the economic and political ideology and tactics of the left wing of Russian liberalism of the post-reform period are considered.
