Book Description
The Youth Care Handbook (in two parts) provides a thorough overview of all relevant aspects of youth care: backgrounds, target groups and daily practice. The choice has been made for a broad field of work - broader than the assistance provided in the context of the Youth Care Act - including youth protection measures, mental health care and the preventive and upbringing support offer in this handbook. Each chapter is written by an author who is authoritative in that field. This part (part 1) 'Currents and specific target groups' is about the backgrounds and target groups in youth care. Part A outlines the historical background of youth care. Insight into current developments is only possible if they are placed in a historical framework. Part B deals with the different theoretical trends that underlie youth care. Finally, Section C describes fifteen specific target groups, which are subject to a separate approach in the professional field. Part 2 deals with the daily performance practice of youth care. Methodologies and care program "s are central.
