This study proposes to investigate the transparency portals of the municipalities of Paraíba with regard to the level of quality of the information on public management made available to society, besides highlighting its importance as a social control tool. In order to do so, it sought to evaluate the official websites of all 223 municipalities in the State of Paraiba, based on the definition of the Government Transparency Index (ITG), obtained through the application of a data collection instrument, two-dimensional model with three characteristics (Content, Usability and Interoperability) and two aspects (General and Legal). This indicator consolidates the attributes that should be present in a portal of transparency focused on social control. The research provided information of extreme relevance so that the municipalities themselves can evolve their portals and build an effective channel of communication with society in order to enhance popular participation. After all, access to good information contributes to the discussion of social problems, integrating social participation in public management. "
