The role of local authorities in the organization of the public electricity service is a little known area of ​​public action because of the symbolic weight of EDF in France. However, the municipalities and their intermunicipal union groupings, which have played a historic role in the electrification of the national territory, have retained important prerogatives as granting authorities of this public service. The geopolitical analysis of relations between local authorities and electricity reveals the diversity of actors and the strength of their representations.
