Book Description
Underinflation of a tire increases the risk of bursting and accidents, causes rapid wear and increases fuel consumption. It is therefore important to develop tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS). A first approach, called "direct" of using pressure sensors is expensive and unreliable. New generations of TPMS favor "indirect" methods without pressure sensors. Monitoring is provided from physical quantities related to pressure. The approach based on comparing the angular velocities of the wheels does not meet the requirements for the minimum pressure drop to be detected and the number of detectable deflated tires. A solution based on Spectral analysis of the angular velocity signals improves the performance but has a significant convergence time. The first objective of this work is therefore to reduce the cost of calculating these algorithms. The second objective is to propose observers capable of estimating quantities that depend on the pressure (effective radii and rolling resistance of the wheels).
