Book Description
In the literature, most active fault tolerance methods assume that nominal system coverage is always possible and that nominal performance is always achievable. This condition is unrealistic in practice since several elements prevent the reconfigured system from returning to its nominal operating mode since all the constraints of the system is a major handicap which limits the nominal operation of a system to well-defined functional ranges. . These functional ranges are enormously reduced after the appearance of certain so-called severe defects which generally affect the actuators. Therefore, this assumption of nominal performance recovery for constrained systems limits the all the defects treated by these classical methods to a few so-called minor defects. Stress-tolerant control systems with consideration of performance degradation are addressed in this book by considering reference management as an integral part of the fault-tolerant control system.
