illycaffè was founded in 1933 in Trieste by Francesco Illy. Today it is led by the third generation of the family. Andrea Illy is the Chairman and Massimiliano Pogliani the CEO.
Anna Rossi Illy, Ernesto's wife (the founder's son passed away in 2008) is honorary Chairman.
Anna Illy jr continues her father's work and handles relations with coffee growers.

The company is known and admired on five continents for the high quality and unmistakable velvety taste of its coffee, an outstanding blend made up of nine types of pure Arabica that every day delights millions of people at home, offices, hotels, restaurants and cafés.

The company has constructed a world of intelligence, experience, taste, science and art around the pleasure of a perfect cup of coffee. The illy offer also includes preparation machines, designer cups and accessories. The business extends to illy Caffè, authentic Italian cafés, and an international network of skilled baristas carrying the title of Artisti del Gusto.

It founded the Università del Caffè to promote and spread the culture of quality coffee in Italy and around the world. It interacts with the art world. It creates innovative products: Iperespresso, covered by five patents, “ready to drink” coffee, capsule machines for offices made by Mitaca.
