Ali Haji group has been in business for more than forty years. Mr. Mohammad Ali Ali Ghanbari is the chairman of this business group. It all started in 1974 with a food shop in Abu Dhabi where customers could find good quality Iranian herbs, sweets, rice, nuts and much more. After success in the food business, the company decided to expand and get into tobacco business as well.
Al-Midwakh’s specialty is the selling of Arabic Tobacco, ‘Dokha’. The shop also sells accessories required for Dokha. Other smoking goods are also available such as Hukkah, Shisha, Hubbly bubbly and molasses. Al Midwakh has its own tobacco production units; from farming to packaging, everything is done exclusively in company’s own production units. They also make Arabic pipes and their accessories. It was so successful that it expanded to other regions as well. It has 3 branches in total: 1 branch in Dubai and 3 in Oman (2 in Muscat the capital of Oman and 1 in Sur). Another tobacco shop called Ali Haji Smoking Goods Store has also been opened which has same goods as Al-Midwakh. This store has one branch in Abu Dhabi, one in MBZ city and one in Dubai.
